Burford

Back

Burford is a beautiful small medieval town on the River Windrush in the Cotswold hills in West Oxfordshire. It is often referred to as the 'gateway' to the Cotswolds. Burford is located 18 miles (29 km) west of Oxford and 22 miles (35 km) southeast of Cheltenham, about 2 miles (3 km) from the Gloucestershire boundary.

Ranked sixth by Forbes magazine's list of "Europe's Most Idyllic Places To Live" , the medieval town with 1,100 inhabitants was even considered superior to the cultural hubs of Rome and Budapest!

A tourist destination of some repute, the town offers a whole host of hotels, restaurants and cafe’s including the special Burford House Hotel, that perennial favourite The Lamb Inn, the historic Bay Tree Hotel with its lovely town garden and Brasserie Blanc graces the picturesque High Street. Burford School has an excellent reputation and is a real draw for families looking to educate their children in this area of The Cotswolds.
